Dr. Jesus Sanchez

For Dr. Jesús Sánchez, dentistry has been a part of his entire life. Growing up in Puerto Rico, he visited his parents’ dental practice daily and the field always intrigued him.

As he grew older, Dr. Sánchez realized the importance of his parents’ work, and helping people in their community, which is what fuels his passion for dentistry today. Dr. Sánchez remembers, “As I was growing up, I understood that in the field of dentistry I would be able to do something I enjoy and give back. That mentality of helping people is what drives me to work and do the best that I can.” Dr. Sánchez is thrilled to be a part of Morrison Dental Group and is excited to meet new patients. He is an “eternal student,” constantly looking to learn more about new technologies in the dental field and how he can better serve his patients.

Dr. Sánchez attended the University of Puerto Rico of Dental Medicine and completed two residencies, one being a General Practice Residency at Lehigh Valley Health Network in Allentown, PA, and the second at Newark Beth Israel Medical Center in Newark, NJ with a focus on Oral Surgery.

The family lives in Williamsburg with their dog, Emma, whom they adopted from the Humane Society on the couple’s first anniversary.

Dr. Julita Marasigan

Dr. Julita Marasigan was always considered quite the “handyman” growing up in the Philippines. As a young adult, she was not sure what type of work she wanted to do but knew she wanted to help others improve their health.

Her love for fixing and repairing things and a desire to work in the healthcare field led her to dentistry, and she’s never looked back. Dr. Marasigan said, “I feel a great sense of accomplishment when I have changed another person’s outlook on life because they feel better about their smile.”

Dr. Marasigan grew up in the Philippines but also spent a few years in Zambia. She attended dental school at the University of the Philippines, and then went on to complete a two-year Advanced Education degree in General Dentistry with Lutheran Medical Center in New York. Dr. Rafael Siqueira

Dr. Rafael Siqueira is originally from Recife, a beautiful town on the coast of Brazil. He attended the University of Pernambuco in Brazil and graduated from dental school in 2010.

He then went on to complete a Masters of Implantology which is similar to a US residency program. After completing that, he joined a PhD program at the Federal University of Pernambuco which sent him to the University of Michigan to do research for his master’s thesis. Once he completed his PhD, he headed back to Michigan School of Dentistry for a 3-year residency in Periodontics. During his time in school and residency, he was able to publish over 30 scientific articles in international peer reviewed journals and write five book chapters. This resulted in a few awards over the years.

Dr. Siqueira’s interest in dentistry started to develop very early in his life by watching his parents who are both dentists. He observed his father teaching students and treating both students and patients with compassionate care. He witnessed a few instances where patients were moved to tears by the results of his father’s care and students whose lives were so strongly impacted by the mentorship his father provided on their path to become a Periodontist or Implantologist. Dr. Siqueira soon realized he wanted to have that same positive impact by being a dentist, educator and researcher.

Dr. Siqueira describes himself as not only family-oriented and very sociable, but also easy-going and calm. He loves being with friends, having a good time and sharing great food. He is typically very optimistic. He is married to Renata, a lawyer, who just recently gave birth to their first child, Thomas. They do not currently have any pets but hope to add a dog to their family in the near future. Dr. Siqueira is a big sports fan, food lover and loves to travel. His hobbies include playing tennis, watching sports, exploring new restaurants, travelling and meeting new people, and learning new languages. A fun fact about Dr. Siqueira is that he speaks his native language, Portuguese, as well as English, Italian, and can communicate quite well in Spanish. He is currently taking a Spanish course to improve his fluency.

Dr. Joseph Ramahlo

Dr. Ramahlo was first drawn to dentistry because he wanted to connect with patients, but also enjoyed the artistic side of the field where he could work with his hands.

Dr. Joseph Ramahlo grew up in New York and attended BYU for his undergraduate degree in exercise science with a minor in Spanish. He then attended Stony Brook University in Long Island for dental school, as well as completed a residency in Advanced Education in General Dentistry at a VA in Miami.

Dr. Ramahlo enjoys cosmetic dentistry and helping patients look and feel better about themselves. He volunteers with the James River Association River Rats Program to help prevent pollution and maintain the waterways.

Dr. Ramahlo is married with children and they have a family cat and dog. He describes himself as meticulous and a good mix of introverted and extroverted. On the weekends, you can find Dr. Ramahlo hiking, fishing, kayaking, and just enjoying the great outdoors! Dr. Paul Jiral

Dr. Paul Jiral was raised in Chesapeake, VA, and lived there from 1st grade through high school. He attended James Madison University for his undergraduate degree in education and taught for a year before realizing his desire to go to dental school.

Dr. Jiral attended MCV for his dental education and is a member of the ADA, Academy of General Dentistry, and the VDA. Dr. Jiral is also an approved Invisalign Provider and spent time volunteering with Big Brothers Big Sisters and the Richmond Jaycees.

Dr. Jiral was first drawn to dentistry because he loved the idea of working in the healing arts. He grew up enjoying his experience in the dental office but didn’t pursue the field until he had worked in the “real world” for a year. He is very personable and wanted to do something medical but didn’t like the idea of working in a hospital setting. He also enjoyed working with his hands, so dentistry seemed to be a great fit! Dr. Jiral is motivated each day by the simple pleasures in life like waking up and feeling the sunshine on his skin. He gets a great deal of satisfaction from planning out detailed treatment and seeing it executed perfectly, leaving the patient happy.

In his spare time, Dr. Jiral likes to find unorthodox ways of fixing things in his house and designing his own tools for his athletic hobbies. He considers himself a bit of an inventor. For example, he built his own trailer to pull his kayak behind his bike! His wife, Celia, ran his previous dental office but is retired now. She is on the hunt for her own new adventure! Dr. Jiral and Celia have three adult children and one grandchild who all reside in Virginia. Dr. Jiral describes himself as a well-adjusted middle child and enjoys any athletic activity. He has participated competitively in swimming, football, basketball, baseball, soccer, tennis, alpine skiing, volleyball, archery, track and field, a mini triathlon and wrestling. He enjoys any activity that gets him outside!
