Dr. Matthew Graham
Dr. Matthew Graham was first drawn to dentistry after his own life changing experience getting braces.
He used to be the shy kid that would hide his teeth in photos and not let people see his true smile. After shadowing a local dentist in his hometown of Smithfield, he was hooked!
Dr. Graham attended ODU for his undergraduate degree and then went on to attend VCU’s School of Dentistry. He is Invisalign Certified, as well as certified with the Misch Implant Institute and Spear Education. He has spent time volunteering with various MOM Projects and the Christian Dental Society, which took him to Jamaica in 2016 on a service trip. He is hoping to become even more involved with volunteer opportunities in the Richmond area very soon.
Dr. Graham is driven every day by his desire to help people and change their lives. He enjoys working with his hands and being in a field that provides care that can impact a person’s confidence and quality of life. He describes himself as genuine and compassionate and likes to treat everyone as if they were a part of his family. Dr. Graham is married to Brooke, a dental hygienist, who he met in one of his first classes of dental school. He and Brooke have two goldendoodles named Oliver and Winston.
In his spare time, Dr. Graham enjoys playing guitar, fly-fishing, and surfing whenever he gets a chance. He also enjoys hiking with his wife and dogs and exploring Virginia’s history by visiting historical landmarks and unique locations. Dr. Graham is a big Tampa Bay Lightning and Baltimore Orioles fan and loves travelling to games. A fun fact about him is that he was a highly ranked high school wrestler and was ranked nationally. He was recruited by several D1 colleges, but chose to focus on his education and dental school instead.
Dr. Graham is a member of the VDA, ADA, and Richmond Dental Society.
Dr. Paul Kim
Dr. Paul Kim was born in South Korea and moved to the United States in 2004 where his family settled down in Northern Virginia.
He attended UVA for his undergraduate degree in Biochemistry. He then continued on to attend VCU’s School of Dentistry where he earned his DDS. He is also a classmate and friend of Dr. Graham! Dr. Kim completed a residency at the VA Hospital in Birmingham, AL. He is Invisalign certified, volunteered on various dental service trips in college, and looks forward to volunteering for Smiles for Heroes.
Dr. Kim was first drawn to dentistry as a child in Korea. Contrary to most people’s experiences, he had a relatively traumatizing experience in the dental chair, which motivated him to be a dentist. He wanted to change people’s view of dentistry and treat his patients with the utmost care, careful to ensure that all patients have a pleasant experience with him. While he still doesn’t enjoy being on the receiving end of dental care, Dr. Kim enjoys being able to calm an anxious patient and successfully treat them. He wants to change patient’s minds that have previously had a bad dental experience. He finds great joy seeing patients leave with a smile and return to see him again.
Dr. Kim describes himself as introverted, but social. He recharges best when he is alone. In his spare time, he enjoys board games, video games, escape rooms and movies. A fun fact about Dr. Kim is that in Korean, his given name – Dado – means “the art of drinking tea.”
Alex Morrison is from Williamsburg, VA. He helps with overseeing the Midlothian, Mechanicsville and Chincoteague offices, monitoring supplies and compliance for all offices as well.
Office Coordinator/Area Manager
Amanda Hewitt joined the MDG family in July of 2018. She was born in Cape May, NJ and was raised in New Gretna, NJ.
After going to school for Forensic Science, her life took a different course and brought her here to Virginia and to our office. Amanda most enjoys working with our patients.
She gets satisfaction from seeing someone walk in the door upset and hopeless because they’re in pain or just don’t like their smile, and they leave happy, healthy, and smiling! In her spare time, Amanda enjoys hunting, fishing, crabbing, and spending time with her kids. She has a cat, dog, and a very old goldfish. A fun fact about Amanda is that she is a sharpshooter.
