Dear Valued Patients and Friends:
With all that is going on in the world with the Coronavirus (COVID-19) situation, I wanted to share the preparations and actions that we at Morrison Dental Group (MDG) are taking to keep everyone healthy and protected. Many of these actions are part of our normal, everyday Universal Precautions to prevent disease transmission from patients or healthcare workers. You have seen us wear personal protective gear such as gloves, masks and clinic jackets. What you may not have seen is the extensive disinfection and cleaning of our spaces after every patient contact. This includes spraying and wiping of every surface with an approved disinfectant, sterilizing of all instruments and the use of disposable one-time use items such as the suction tips, bibs, cleaning angles, etc.
MDG also utilizes a professional cleaning service to clean our common areas and offices. Hand sanitizer is available in every office for everyone’s use. In addition, during this Flu season and now COVID-19, we have instituted additional disinfection of our lobbies, including door handles and tables, as well as removing magazines from the offices as they cannot be adequately disinfected to the level we desire for your protection.
Part of Universal Precautions is excellent Hand Hygiene, meaning the frequent washing of your hands for a minimum of 20-30 seconds with soap and water. You should also limit hand-to-hand contact when possible. At MDG we have always had a company “Sick” policy that requires our staff to stay at home and seek care when feeling ill or running a fever and to not return to work until 24 hours after the last fever. This has been effective at reducing transmission of illnesses between staff and patients and makes good common sense. We ask that all of our valued patients also utilize this policy for our office as well as in their daily life. Please inform us if you have traveled out of the country in the last 30 days.
The most important preventive measure in combating any illness is to be healthy, eat healthy, and quickly treat any disease process. One way that we can assist you is to maintain your oral health and continue to be the patient’s advocate in all things healthcare. We will continue to treat our patients safely and professionally to prevent oral disease and its impact on a patient’s resistance to systemic disease. We are committed to helping you be healthy! See you in the office.
